St. Andrew’s Lin Commits to Manhattan
St. Andrew’s post-graduate guard Benson Lin committed to Manhattan on Friday according to Saints’ head coach Michael Hart.
He joins Woodstock Academy guard Romar Reid to become the second New England prep product to commit to the Jaspers this fall.
Lin is a native of Taiwan who has been dubbed “the next Jeremy Lin” and developed an intense following in his home country. He played in the Jordan Brand International Game back in 2016 and was the focus of an ESPN feature in 20017.
Lin came to the United States in 2015 after growing up in Taiwan, where both of his parents had previously played for the national team. He spent his senior season with Hargrave Military Academy’s high school team before arriving at St. Andrew’s in September.
Manhattan offered Lin in early October and has pursued him hard since. He was also being recruited by Stetson, Drexel, Rice, UAB, and Winthrop per Rice.
“[Benson is a] 6-foot-4 combo-guard who shoots the lights out and passes the ball really well,” Hart told NERR. “He’s very creative with outstanding court vision.”
