Semona Chooses Stonehill
St. Thomas More School forward Louie Semona announced his commitment yesterday to Stonehill.
Before coming to New England, Semona attended St. Xavier HS located in Cincinnati, Ohio. He had a standout senior season. Semona averaged 15.8 points and 8 rebounds per game. This led to him getting selected First Team All GCL-South.
He has adjusted well to the elevated level of competition in NEPSAC AAA, earning a starting spot for the Chancellors. Semona has had impressive performances in games at the National Prep Showcase and Zero Gravity Prep Classic. He also scored 19 points recently against a talented South Kent squad.
“Louie Semona made a great decision to accept his opportunity to attend Stonehill,” said STM head coach Jere Quinn. “He has a chance to thoroughly assist with their transition to the D1 level. Louie is a younger post-grad who was recruited by a handful of the stronger programs in New England.”
“He is an excellent shooter, strong competitor, and consistent worker. Jimmy Langhurst did a wonderful job of procuring his decision. He is a wonderful kid who we are expecting to have a great career.”
“Louie is a great kid with a positive approach and consistent work ethic,” said STM associate head coach Milo Luciano. “He has great positional size with an ability to stretch the floor and defend a few positions.”
“His skillset may give him the ability to make an impact early on and he has all the tools to continue developing as a creator. Stonehill did a wonderful job recruiting him and we are incredibly happy for them, Louie, and the Semona family.”
Semona becomes the first member of STM’s 2023 class who has committed to play Division One college basketball next year.
