SCA & TNE big man earns scholarship
Springfield Commonwealth Academy and Team New England big man Ugo Nwachukwu announced his commitment to Franklin Pierce, a division II school in New Hampshire, last week.
Nwachukwu came onto the New England prep scene for the first time this past year. He was a part of a Springfield Commonwealth team that made it to the AAA Power 5 Conference Title Game. Nwachuwku competed on the AAU circuit for Team New England of the ZGXL.
“Ugo came to campus overweight and hated our hell week that consisted of so much conditioning and healthy eating habits,” said his head coach Antonio Anderson, who recently moved over to Busche Academy. “Once he fought through it, he lost a tremendous amount of weight, which led to him leading us in rebounding and putting himself in a situation to start towards the end of the season and earn a scholarship to Franklin Pierce.”
“He will be a great addition to an already loaded Franklin Pierce roster. Coach Chadbourne is a legend and loves the size and physical play Ugo brings to the table! He will have a chance to make an immediate impact at Franklin Pierce.”
Nwachukwu becomes the second member of SCA’s 2022 class to finalize their college plans, while also being the second to commit to a division II program.
