Santos Silva Makes the Call

Vermont Academy and BABC big man Marcus Santos Silva took to his twitter account on Wednesday to announce his commitment to VCU. He had previously trimmed his list to VCU and Temple after visiting both campuses in recent weeks.

Santos-Silva was one of the biggest stock-risers in New England this spring and summer as he was the interior anchor for a BABC team that extended their national leading streak of Peach Jam appearances.

Santos Silva averaged nearly 16 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists per game for BABC at this year's EYBL Finals, helping to push his recruitment to even higher levels after landing offers from DePaul and Boston College earlier in the spring.

A wide-bodied southpaw with broad shoulders and extremely long arms, Santos Silva is a load to handle inside. He has absolutely magnetic hands, which in combination with his power and reach, make him a high volume rebounder on both ends of the floor. He excels at the mid-post area offensively with good footwork and a series of short face-up moves.

After being a consistenter contributor on last year's Vermont Academy AA championship team, he now returns to VA with both his game and his confidence at an all-time high and set to anchor the team's interior as they look to repeat this season.

Below are some of his recent highlights from both the July evaluation period with BABC as well as fall open gyms with Vermont Academy.
