Rusin Brothers Leaving New England

Candon Rusin, who was pegged as the best rising senior in the state of Vermont, will be moving to North Carolina for his final year of high school basketball.  His little brother, rising sophomore Connor Rusin, will be making the move as well.  The Rusin brothers are moving to the Wilmington, North Carolina area where their father recently got a new job.

Their move is a devastating blow to the Twin Valley team, who was one of the early favorites for the Vermont Division III state championship next year.  Last season, they advanced to the semi-finals of the state tournament before falling to Proctor High School.
Rachel George, a sports reporter for the Star-News in Wilmington, saw the Rusin brothers at a recent team camp where they were already suiting up with their new teammates.

“Candon said he fit in with the team well and that it was better competition down here,” George said.

Candon was receiving a good deal of division I interest, mostly from programs in the northeast.  It is a good assumption that many of those schools will continue to recruit him, while the long distance marksmen is also likely to begin hearing from some new programs in the Carolina area.
