Roman Reaches Scholarship Level at Bentley
Northfield Mount Hermon & BTI Hoops guard Dre Roman recently announced his commitment to Bentley.
Before coming to New England, Roman competed at St. Joseph in Santa Maria, CA. He had a standout senior season, helping lead the Knights to 27 wins while going perfect in Mountain League play. His per game averages were 14 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.2 steals.
Roman made a decision that spring on a post-grad season the following year at NMH. His transition went well against the elevated competition in NEPSAC Class AA. He was a standout at the National Prep Showcase and earned ALL-NEPSAC Honorable Mention honors.
On the AAU circuit, Roman competed for BTI Hoops.
“I pushed Dre to be a great leader and he was,” said NMH head coach Mike Shelton. “I asked him to play point primarily which was what our team needed and was not something he did in high school, and he said: “of course coach!” He brought it every day and was an integral part of our success and togetherness throughout the season.”
“Coach Lawson recruited two of my former Williston players at Bentley who ended up having great careers in Ryan Richmond and Chris Hudson. Dre Roman is the same type of kid as those two guys. Pure winner!!”
Roman became the fourth member of NMH’s 2023 class who earned a scholarship to play college basketball next year.
