Rider Strikes Prep Market Again

Putnam Science Academy post-graduate Tyere Marshall made a verbal commitment to Rider University on Monday, marking the second time the New Jersey based MAAC school has landed a New England prep product in as many months.

Marshall follows in the footsteps of Dimencio Vaughn, a southpaw swingman from the Master's School who pledged to Rider last month.

The 6-foot-8 Marshall came to PSA from Martin Luther King High School in Philadelphia, where he started to make a name for himself last year as a senior before running with the Philly Pride on the UAA (Under Armour Association) circuit.

He earned initial offers from High Point and Wagner this summer before Canisius and Rider both came calling following the July live period. UNC Greensboro offered after watching a PSA open gym this fall.

A savvy lefty who can play both with his back to the basket or facing up, Marshall has dramatically improved his conditioning in the last six months while also extending his game away from the basket.

He and Vaughn are part of a big six man class for Rider which also includes point guard Stevie Jordan, Marshall's teammate with Philly Pride, along with sharp-shooting guard Jordan Allen from Dover (DE), southpaw slasher Xzavier Malone from Plymouth-Whitemarsh (PA) and combo-forward Quintin Dove from Euclid (OH).

Marshall joins Mamadou Diarra (UConn) to become the second member of Putnam Science's senior class to commit to a division I school.
