Report: Gillespie UNH Bound
The Hartford Courant is reporting that Capital Prep guard Levy Gillespie Jr. will sign a National Letter of Intent with the University of New Haven on Friday.
Gillespie is a six-foot-three guard who has had a storied career at Capital Prep, playing under his father Levy Sr.
In his senior season alone, Gillespie averaged over 27 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals while earning a long list of accolades including CIAC All-State, Hartford Courant Fab 15, New Haven Register All-State, Connecticut High School Coaches’ Association All-Star, and Charter Oak Conference All-Conference.
He also became the first player in Capital Prep history to finish with over 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists, and 250 steals during the course of his high school career.
On the AAU circuit, Gillespie is a longtime product of the Connecticut Basketball Club.
Gillespie is a big guard with a terrific feel for the game and high basketball I.Q. He’ll be capable of playing multiple positions next season for head coach Ted Hotaling, who this season led UNH to the finals of the NE-10 tournament and their second consecutive NCAA tournament berth.
