Reebok Pre-Season Tune-Up Big Success

The second annual Reebok Pre-Season Tune Up was once again a big success.  The program, sponsored by Shooting Touch, worked with 20 elite players in the Greater Boston area twice a week for six weeks on Tuesday nights at Reebok's Headquarters in Canton, MA and Saturday mornings at the Boston Athletic Club in South Boston.

The workouts consisted of two hours each session and include one hour of strength and conditioning and one hour of basketball fundamentals.  Each session is run by a different high school coach enabling each player to receive a variety of expert instruction.  New components this year included guest speakers and a monitored nutrition plan for each player.

But as always nothing raises the quality of play like good coaches and good players and the Pre-Season Tune-Up had both of those.

The talented roster of players included Jarell Byrd, Kyle Casey, Ryan Chambers, Dennis Clifford, Jared Fay, Matt Gibson, Greg Kelley, Ryan Kilcullen, Gavin Mahoney, Derek Retos, Troy Robinson, Ryan Romich, Dartaye Ruffin, Edwin Saladin, Chris Sherwood, Kyle Umemba, Steve Wynn, and Allen Williamson

The coaching staff included:  John Carroll from Northfield Mount Hermon; Paul Connolly from Newton North High School; Jim Donnolly from Sutton High School; Dave Fazio from Andover High School; Juan Figeroa from O’Bryant High School; Steve Harrington from Watertown High School; Greg Kristof from Brimmer & May; Rick Linet from Boston Trinity; Sean McInnis from King Phillip High School; John McVeigh from Brooks School; Jim Quatramoni from Hull High School; and Lamar Reddicks from Milton High School.

But the highlight of the program was the final week when former Boston Celtic, NBA dunk champion, and WNBA head coach Dee Brown came to Reebok Headquarters to run the last workout.  Other special guests included current Golden State Warrior Jamal Crawford, Dallas Maverick Jason Terry, and former division I college and professional coach Craig Peper.

All of the participants also got the chance to celebrate the completion of their program by watching a Celtics game in Reebok’s corporate box alongside program coordinator Justin Kittredge and Willie May.
