Recruiting News & Notes
The week after the July evaluation period is always a busy one of recruiting news and notes. We’ve already updated many of them along the way but here’s a few that have slipped between the cracks:
• Canterbury big man Brandon Aughburns picked up his second offer of the month – this one from Iona – while playing with House of Sports in Las Vegas. He picked up an offer from Long Island earlier in the month while running at the Hoop Group Elite Camp during the first week of the evaluation period;
• In the matter of 24 hours Oxford Hills (ME) 2016 forward Andrew Fleming picked up his scholarship offer and then his first division I scholarship offer as Stonehill and Maine both came calling following Fleming’s performance with the MBR 10th grade team in Louisville;
• Tabor Academy big man Jesse Bunting was another big winner from Louisville as he scored offers from Duquesne, Fordham, Fairfield, Albany, and Canisius after starring with Expressions Elite for the last time. Those five schools join St. Joseph’s, Holy Cross, and Quinnipiac who had all offered previously;
• Canisius offered another Expressions product following their week in Louisville as they came calling for Nisre Zouzoua, who had been offered by Winthrop, Bryant, and Robert Morris earlier in the month;
• Rising Tilton post-graduate Anthony Green scored an offer from New Hampshire after running with the New England Playaz through the UAA Finals in Atlanta and the Fab 48 in Las Vegas. Green began the month with a starring performance at the All Academic Camp;
• Rising sophomore point guard Caleb Green, who will be transferring to Proctor Academy next year, scored his first division I offer from Stony Brook after leading the New Hampshire based DC Blue Devils team to a 9-1 record at AAU Nationals for 9th place overall in the country. Green averaged 14 points and 7 assists during the 10 game run according to the New Hampshire notebook;
• Drexel and Boston University became the latest programs to offer Putnam Science Academy and NYC Jayhawks big man Mamadou Diarra. The 2016 big man already held offers from Iona, St. Peter’s, Quinnipiac, Norfolk State, Fairfield, Manhattan, Rider, Monmouth, and Hofstra.
