PSA claims inaugural NEBL championship
The third and final session of the inaugural New England Basketball League (NEBL) wrapped up Sunday at St. Thomas More School.
The NEBL was designed to feature the region’s top ten programs regardless of league affiliation and consists of Brewster Academy, Bridgton Academy, Cushing Academy, Northfield Mount Hermon School, New Hampton School, Putnam Science Academy, South Kent School, St. Thomas More School, Woodstock Academy, and Vermont Academy.
On Sunday, Putnam’s 71-58 win over Northfield Mount Hermon extended their undefeated season to 29-0 and clinched the first NEBL championship.
Arturo Dean led the way with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals while Xavier bound guard Desmond Claude had 16 points and 7 rebounds. Barry Evans and Mouhamed Dioubate both finished with 6 points and 7 rebounds.
In other NEBL action on Sunday, Cushing Academy scored a convincing win over Vermont Academy 83-56 behind 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 steals from Marvin Musiime-Kamali.
