Proctor Duo off the Board
James Cormier and Marco Radovic both made verbal commitments last week. Cormier heads to Le Moyne College of the NE-10, while Radovic will star at Clark University. Both players had received division I interest during their time at Proctor Academy.
Cormier will be joining a Le Moyne program that is on the rise. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the NE-10 tournament this year before falling in overtime to the eventual champions Bentley.
“James is a competitive, hard-nosed kid who gets a lot of things done on the floor,” said Proctor Academy Head Coach Gregor Makechnie. “He’s going to a very good Le Moyne team that took Bentley to overtime twice this year. Hopefully he can go in there and help them get over the hump.”
Cormier has spent the last two years at Proctor after transferring from Trumbull High School in Connecticut. In that time he has developed a reputation as one of the toughest players in the region. He is also a coach’s son with a unique understanding of what it means to run a team. Those qualities should make him an extremely valuable addition to the Dolphins program next year.
Radovic is another player who should be able to make an immediate contribution next year.
“Marco is a tremendous player,” said Makechnie. “I think if he had another year of prep school he would have gone to the division I level.”
In his only season at Proctor, Radovic showed himself to be a skilled face-up four man with an excellent understanding of the game. As he continues to adjust to the American game and adds more muscle to his upper body he should have a chance to be one of the best players in the NEWMAC.
