Prep Bound

This time of year prep school commitments come at a fast and furious rate, but inevitably some of the players who intend to go to prep school don’t always end up there.  With that in mind here is the most accurate and up-to-date list of New England products that we have confirmed are heading to prep school next year. 

Jamil Ebo & Xavier Pollard, Winchendon School:  Head coach Mike Byrnes will inherit two players who have the type of explosive quickness and athleticism to be of value in his fast paced system.  Ebo is a high-flying athlete who can play above the rim like few others can while Pollard is a very talented scoring guard who could blossom under Byrnes’ guidance. 

Jose Cruz & Tavon Allen, Worcester Academy:  Cruz and Allen could both benefit by the additional year as Cruz will profit from playing against a high level of competition on a daily basis while Allen has been playing the best basketball of his career as of late and will become even more effective once he is able to strengthen his frame. 

Wayne Selden & Domonique Bull, Tilton School: The three time defending class B champions continue to get talented and younger at the same time.  Selden will come out of O’Bryant High School in Boston and into Tilton’s class of 2014 while Bull will transfer from fellow class B school Cushing Academy but remain in the class of 2012. 

Dan Brooks, Kimball Union Academy: Brooks has been tremendous this spring with the Boston Warriors and looks like one of the most improved players in New England.  With his recruiting stock rapidly rising his decision to do a post-grad year at KUA appears to be a good one. 

Alex Levine, Ryan Kilcullen, & Cam Shorey, Phillips Exeter:  Levine and Kilcullen both possess the size and skill to thrive in head coach Jay Tilton’s system during their post-graduate seasons, while Shorey is an inside-out threat who will reclassify to the class of 2012 and provide Exeter with a horse inside for the next two years. 

Kamali Bey & Jules Tavares, Wilbraham & Monson: After finishing second in the Western New England Conference with a post-graduate laden team, Wilbraham and Monson is getting younger next year, but staying equally talented, as MIAA stars Tavares and Bey will transfer in and reclassify to 2012 and 2013 respectively. 

Marco Banegas, Adrian Oliveira & John Powell, Brimmer & May: Banegas is another guy who has stood out thus far on the grassroots circuit and he should become a focal point for Brimmer & May right away while Oliviera and Powell are two young players with the undeniable tools to eventually blossom into stars for Brimmer. 

Brandon Sherrod, Phil Gaetano, Dennis Levene, Deshawn Murphy, & Casey Woodring, Choate: All five players are Connecticut natives.  Sherrod was the Gatorade player of the year in the state while he, Gaetano, and Murphy all led their teams to state championships.  Levene will also be a post-graduate while Woodring will arrive as a junior. 

Zach Auguste, New Hampton: Auguste will leave Marlborough High School and transfer into New Hampton’s class of 2012.  The six-foot-eight forward broke out during last summer’s July live period and has definite star quality tools with size, athleticism, and an evolving skill set. 

Connor Merrill, Vermont Academy: Merrill will be staying in Vermont for at least one more year as he will attend Vermont Academy as a post-graduate after graduating from Vergennes High School next month, hoping to utilize his length and inside-out skills to improve his recruiting stock. 

Ethan ODay, Northfield Mount Hermon: O’Day will leave E.O. Smith High School in Connecticut and transfer to Northfield Mount Hermon where he will repeat his junior year.  After having a breakout season at E.O. Smith this year, O’Day has continued to shine this spring on the AAU circuit with Drive 4 Stardum. 

Ryan Palumbo, Williston Northampton: The Most Outstanding Player of the RIIL division I state tournament will spend a post-graduate season at Williston Northampton.  Palumbo won a state championship in every season of his high school career at Bishop Hendricken High School. 

Andrew Chrabascz, Cushing Academy: Chrabascz arrival will help cushion the loss of Domonique Bull as Chrabascz was arguably the most dominant player in Rhode Island last season as a sophomore and will reclassify and join the class of 2013 upon arriving at Cushing.  

Andre King, Suffield Academy: After leading Sabis to a state championship in his senior season, King will bring his high scoring game to Suffield Academy where he will have the opportunity to step right in and put immediate points on the board for a team that advanced to the semifinals of the Western New England Conference last season.
