Platek Lands a Big Offer

New England Recruiting Report | Thursday, April 28th, 2016

Northfield Mount Hermon 2017 guard Andrew Platek was offered by North Carolina last night during a phone conversation with head coach Roy Williams.

Platek has been adding scholarship offers at a rapid rate in recent weeks after helping NMH to a NEPSAC championship in his first season in the prep ranks and then leading the EYBL in three-point shooting (54%) after two sessions this spring with his long-time club, the Albany City Rocks.

He's also in the midst of taking several unofficial visits. Miami was one of the first high-major programs to offer Platek last summer and thus they received one of his first visits immediately following the conclusion of the prep school season. He traveled to Butler earlier this month and left with an offer from the Big East school and was on Harvard's campus on Wednesday, in the first of four Ivy visits scheduled for this week. He also has an unofficial visit to Indiana set up for next week.

Platek holds other offers from Yale, Penn, Princeton, Harvard, George Washington, St. Joseph's, Davidson and DePaul among others, although it's a good bet the most recent invitation from the Tar Heels will only open the flood gates and force the hand of any school hoping to stay involved in his recruitment.

Stay tuned to the New England Recruiting Report tomorrow for a full run-down of this week's new covers from across the region.
