Parrom Gets Release

South Kent swingman and New York native Kevin Parrom has re-opened his recruitment and has quickly assembled a long list of potential suitors at the high major level.

Parrom asked Xavier for his release following Sean Miller’s departure to take over the program at Arizona.  Also making the move was assistant coach, Emmanuel “Book” Richardson, who was the primary recruiter for Parrom.

Miller’s associate head coach, Chris Mack, was elevated into the head coaching position and allowed Parrom his release despite still hoping to have him choose to attend Xavier next year.

“I spent the entire day with Kevin and his family on Friday,” Mack told Cincinnati.com via text message.  “Kevin, at this point, wants to take a step back and breathe.  He wants to examine all of his options and so we have granted Kevin a complete release.”

Yesterday, Adam Zagoria reported that Parrom was hearing from a variety of high major schools as expected.  While Xavier and Arizona are both still options, other schools including Providence, Pittsburgh, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Rutgers, St. John’s, Virginia Tech, and Georgia Tech had either visited South Kent’s campus in recent days or expressed an interest.

South Kent head coach Kelvin Jefferson told Zagoria that following the conclusion of the live period on Wednesday, Parrom would decide where to take his four remaining official visits.

“When it’s done on Wednesday, he’ll decide what schools he’s going to visit,” Jefferson said.  “Now he’s got to do some research where he says, ‘I can see myself in this situation and I can see myself being coached by this guy.’”
