OShea Makes Surprise Pick
When the New England Recruiting Report spoke with Joe OShea in late August, the Burlington High School star had cut his list down to four and was scheduling visits with Brown, Princeton, Vermont, and Yale.
But things have changed in the last six weeks and on Thursday O’Shea made a verbal commitment to Holy Cross.
“Some stuff changed with my recruiting and I decided to look at Holy Cross because they are a very good school academically and they give scholarships,” he said.
O’Shea took an official visit to Holy Cross this weekend and had previously been on officials to Brown and Vermont.
“I was very comfortable with Coach Kearney, the team, and their style of play,” O’Shea said. “But the biggest factor was that I just wanted to go to school away from home.”
O’Shea becomes the first player to commit to the Crusaders since Sean Kearney assumed the head coaching position this summer and projects to be an ideal fit in his motion system because of his high basketball I.Q. and ability to make shots from the perimeter.
O’Shea has had a storied career at Burlington High School, leading the team to two consecutive state finals, 37 consecutive wins, and a state championship in his sophomore year. He’s been equally successful on the grassroots circuit running with Expressions Elite for the last two seasons.
