Northeast Hoops Festival u17 Preview
We are now only days away from the 7th annual Northeast Hoops Festival and this year’s event isn’t just poised to be the best yet, it also promises to be both the biggest tournament and most talented field the New England region will see during the spring AAU season.
Over 300 teams, including nearly 70 in the u17 division alone, will be converging on the University Sports Complex and the greater Hanover, Massachusetts area.
But this event isn’t just about quantity, it is about unprecedented quality.
Simply put, each and every one of the top u17 programs in New England will be in attendance - BABC, Expressions Elite, Mass Rivals, New England Playaz, Metro Boston, Middlesex Magic, Connecticut Select, Connecticut Basketball Club, MB Nation, Maine Athletic Club, USAD, High Rise Team Up, Boston Warriors, Lone Wolf Athletics, BV Chaos, Boston Spartans, Connecticut Elite, Academic Basketball Club, Mass Elite, Mass Evolution, North Shore Bobcats, South Shore Wolfpack, Drive 4 Stardum, LOX, MABC, Stamford Peace, and many others.
When it comes to individual prospects, consider this – 29 of the top 30 ranked prospects in New England’s 2015 class are expected to be in action this weekend.
But there will be plenty of talent coming from outside the region as well including some of the top teams from the state of New York.
Team Scan, one of Nike’s flagship programs, is making the trip to Massachusetts with a roster that includes three different top 15 national prospects in six-foot-nine big man Cheick Diallo, six-foot-ten big man Thomas Bryant, and six-foot-five sophomore guard Tyus Battle.
Another New York city based powerhouse, New Heights, will also be making the trip. The reigning champions from the Adidas Super 64 in Las Vegas promises to be another of the favorites in the u17 division.
There are many other talented programs set to visit from outside the region including a program that won a championship at this event last year, House of Hoops, along with the likes of Mid-Atlantic Select, Metro Falcons, and many others.
Stay tuned to the New England Recruiting Report throughout the day on Wednesday for the release of the Northeast Hoops Festival schedule and then this weekend as we’ll bring you continuous blogs and recaps of all the action.
