New Englanders Shine at National Camps

Two prestigious national camps are taking place this weekend and New England representatives are standing out in both venues.

Under Armour is hosting 80 players from around the country in Atlanta, Georgia for their second annual Best of the Best event.  Brewster Academy big man Mitch McGary headlined the field on Saturday, shining during the 360 combine testing and then dominating his match-up with Robert Carter Jr., the 12th ranked national prospect in the class of 2012.

Fellow Brewster teammate Deonte Bruton also received an invite from Under Armour while Tafari Whitingham made the trip to Atlanta along with two of his teammates from the Juice All-Stars.

National products in Under Armour's field included Shaq Goodwin, the Harrison twins, Rondae Jefferson, Kennedy Meeks, J.P. Tokoto, Chris Walker, Isaiah Whitehead and several more.

In California, the Pangos All-American Camp hosted a loaded field.  Friday night featured a match-up between ESPN's top ranked national product Andre Drummond and Rivals' top ranked player Isaiah Goodwin.  The match-up reportedly become one sided as Drummond set the record straight about who the premier big man was.

Also in the headlines on day one was Kris Dunn who was credited for attacking the basket, playing pick and roll, and draining an open three.

Joining Drummond and Dunn in California is Hotchkiss guard Clyde Smith, as all three Connecticut products are even playing on the same team together.

Other top national prospects in the field include Shabazz Muhammad, Grant Jerrett, Brandon Ashley, Archie Goodwin, Ricardo Gathers, Savon Goodman, Anthony Bennett, and more.
