National Prep Championships Tips Wednesday

The National Prep Championship tips Wednesday morning at Albertus Magnus College in Connecticut with the top 11 prep teams in the country, according to the Prep Circuit poll, all accepting invitations to participate.

The field includes an unprecedented 8 teams from New England, coming from three unique leagues.

Brewster Academy, who extended their undefeated season by winning the NEPSAC AAA championship on Sunday, is the top seed on one side of the bracket while fellow AAA schools Northfield Mount Hermon and South Kent are both on the bottom side of the bracket.

The newly formed Power 5 Conference also has three teams in action led by Putnam Science Academy, who took the conference championship on Sunday, followed by Notre Dame Prep and Commonwealth Academy.

This is also the first time in National Prep Championship history that two programs have been selected from Class AA of the NEPSAC as both the champion, Cushing Academy, as well as the runner-up, Tilton School, earned invitations not just by their post-season run but by quality non-conference wins during the regular season.

The defending National Champions, Hargrave Military Academy, are back in the field as well and headline the bottom half of the bracket with only one loss on their record to date this season. Fork Union Military Academy and Massanutten Military Academy will also be in action this week.
