National Prep Championship semifinals set
The semifinals for the National Prep Championship are set and on schedule for Thursday with Woodstock Academy and Putnam Science Academy set to take the court at Connecticut College for an 11am tip followed by Northfield Mount Hermon School and Tilton School at 1pm.
Putnam built up an early first half lead against Scotland Campus and then was able to hold them off in the second half despite a valiant run. Akok Akok led the way with 22 points and 12 rebounds while Kyle Loftons, Osun Osunniyi, and Josh Mballa all added 14.
The game of the day was an overtime battle between Woodstock and Brewster Academy with the Centaurs earning a 92-91 win as Joe Kasperzyk went the length of the court to score the game winning bucket with less than 5 seconds remaining.
Tilton held off Massanutten Military Academy in the third quarterfinal in a game that was a physical grind from start to finish. Marcus Zegarowski led the way with 27 points while Max Zegarowski added 23.
In the nightcap NMH was clicking on all cylanders to earn an 86-60 win over Spire. Nate Laszewski scored 19 first half points, including five threes, and finished with 24 while Ryan Greer added 22 and Noah Kirkwood 16.
The semifinals winners will advance to advance to Thursday's final at 7:30pm
