Mukasa Earns Full Ride

St. Andrew’s post-graduate guard Brian Mukasa has accepted a full athletic scholarship to division II Post University according to Saints’ head coach Michael Hart.

Mukasa had a decorated high school career at Sharon (MA), scoring his 1000th point last year as a senior, and leading them to the Division II South Sectional Final of the MIAA tournament.

He took on a brand new role upon his arrival at St. Andrew’s, coming off the bench and providing a burst of instant offense on the Saints’ second unit.

“Brian was a key part to our success this season,” Hart said. “He provided strong leadership in a rebuilding effort with 9 new players on our team.”

While Mukasa’s willingness to come off the bench in his post-grad year proved his unselfishness, his productivity in a back-up role proved his efficiency.

He averaged over 9 points and 5 assists while also shooting 54% from the field, 87% from the free-throw line and 47% from the three-point line.

Those shooting percentages are a testament to how Mukasa has continued to improve and add new elements to his game over the years. Known primarily as a driver early in his career, he added a consistent pull-up game as an upperclassmen and didn’t become known as a true three-point threat until within the last year.

Put it all together – the unselfishness, efficiency, continued improvement and three range scoring threat – and Mukasa proved himself time and time again within the last year and ultimately that’s what was needed for him to achieve his goal.

“Brian came to St. Andrew’s loking to get a division two scholarship” Hart said, “and he accomplished his goal.”
