Moore Confirms Commitment

Jacob Moore’s commitment to Bentley has been rumored for several weeks now, but as the Hampden Academy senior told the New England Recruiting Report, it wasn’t until recently that he did finally commit.

“They offered me two weeks before my visit, but didn’t want me to commit until I came down to campus and made sure it was where I wanted to be,” Moore said.

After visiting Bentley’s campus on the weekend of October 24th and 25th, Moore went home, talked the decision over with his parents, and finally made up his mind on the following Monday.

“I really liked the size of the school and it’s a good business school,” Moore said. “I got to watch practice and really liked how Coach Lawson ran it.  His team is a running team and it will be similar to the way I played with MBR, where even though I’m a bigger player I’ll be on the perimeter and able to shoot, not on the block.”

Moore had a tremendous AAU season with MBR this past spring and summer as he got the opportunity to demonstrate his versatile skill set, high basketball I.Q., and vastly underestimated athleticism.

Looking back on the season, Moore said that it really wasn’t until the beginning of the July live period when he began to hit his stride.

“At Hoop Mountain I let myself go a little bit and it became easier [from that point on],” he said, “especially at Elite 75.”

The New England Elite 75 Showcase was the very next day after the conclusion of the Hoop Mountain Camp and Moore had a tremendous showing as he consistently finished above the rim, attacked with his dribble, and drained three-pointers.

“After that I knew I could play with anyone,” he said.

Moore rode that wave of momentum throughout the rest of the summer as he helped form the core of the MBR team that made their most recent deep run at the AAU u17 Nationals.

That success spilled over into the fall leading up to Moore’s recent commitment to Bentley.  The good news for Bentley is that Moore may just be beginning to scratch the surface of his potential.

“Jacob is a player that is still evolving,” MBR head coach Carl Parker said.  “He can defend a variety of positions, is athletic, and, in my opinion, could be a player who will be one of the best to play in the league [NE-10].”
