Mitchell Calls it for Cardinals

Brewster Academy guard Donovan Mitchell made a verbal commitment to Louisville on Thursday while on their campus for an official visit.

The Cardinals made a late push for Mitchell’s services after seeing him early in the July evaluation period at the Reebok Breakout Classic and then continuing to watch him throughout the month.

Mitchell had previously trimmed his list to five schools – Boston College, Florida State, Louisville, Providence, and Villanova.

Having seen Boston College, Florida State, and Providence prior to the July evaluation period, Mitchell began this week by taking an unofficial visit to Villanova before traveling with his family to Louisville on Thursday.

He committed to the Cardinals less than 24 hours after arriving on their campus.

Earlier in the week, Cox Sports provided a comprehensive review of Mitchell’s recruitment dating back to his very first scholarship offer.

Following last night’s commitment, ESPN broke down exactly what Mitchell will mean to Louisville

Below are highlights from Mitchell's final performance of the summer, at the Las Vegas Fab 48 Tournament, care of Len Bino and BinoTV, which illustrate just how far his game had come in a short period of time:
