Mello Makes the Call for Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart continues to actively recruit the New England landscape with St. George's and Expressions Elite guard Dominic Mello being the second local product to commit to the Pioneers in the class of 2021.

Mello is a true scoring guard who put up 12 points and just under 4 assists for a St. George's team that won the ISL and advanced to the semi-finals of the NEPSAC Class B tournament a year ago.

Mello had landed a couple of early D1 offers, but Sacred Heart became the latest to offer after Mello was featured in the NERR-TV Unsigned Senior Virtual Showcase.

"Dom is a dynamic scorer capable of scoring in bunches," said SGS head coach Dwayne Pina over the summer. "He's a high character kid and also boasts an impressive academic record. Undoubtedly, Dom would enhance any team and community at the next level."

A legitimate three-range scoring threat, Mello is a quick playmaker off the bounce who makes sharp changes of direction, gets to the rim with ease, and is also a shooting threat off the dribble and from behind the arc.

He joins Woodstock Academy and Rhode Island Elite forward Ray Espinal-Guzman in Sacred Heart's 2021 class to date.

Below are some recent highlights of Mello care of Hoop Major as part of the Be Seen Tour.
