McCullough, Abu Shine at Global Games
Kimball Union forward Abdul-Malik Abu was not with his Expressions Elite squad earlier this week when they traveled to King of Prussia, Pennsylvania for the Hoop Group Summer Classic, because he had been invited to attend the Nike Global Games in Washington D.C.
Abu rejoined his teammates on Saturday night, just in time for the final rounds of the Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest, after a succesful three days at Global Games.
Abu, who averaged just under 16 points per game with the Pan Africa team, was one of the players named to the International All-Tournament Team, along with Leonardo Demetrio (Brasil), Cheick Diallo (Pan Africa), Mathias Lessort (France), and Marial Shayok (Canada). The Canadian tandem of Chris Egi and Montaque Gill-Caesar were named International Co-MVP's.
Brewster Academy and Team Scan forward Chris McCullough was named to the USA All-Tournament Team, after running with the USA East squad and averaging 17 points per game while shooting 65% from the floor.
The Syracuse bound forward was joined by Justin Jackson, Tyus Jones, Kelly Oubre, and Theo Pinson on the USA All-Tournament team while Stanley Johnson and D'Angelo Russell earned MVP honors.
St. Andrew's and BABC forward Bonzie Colson was also in action with the USA South squad, and finished third in the tournament in both rebounding and steals.
Paschal Chukwu (Fairfield Prep/Connecticut Basketball Club) and Goodluck Okonoboh (Wilbraham and Monson/Mass Rivals) were invited to the Global Games, but did not participate.
