Maurice Creek Leaving New England

Reports from Las Vegas that Maurice Creek is lighting up the opposition have to be bittersweet for the people at the South Kent School.  In one sense, they are surely happy for the Maryland native who spent his junior season at the Connecticut prep school.  But on the other hand, it is also a case of what could have been, now that Creek will be taking his game to Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia.

Creek, who gave a verbal commitment to the University of Indiana a couple of short months ago, was recruited to play for South Kent by former Head Coach Raphael Chillious.  But when Chillious left the NEPSAC school to take a job with Nike in mid-season, Creek began to consider his options.

Now, what has been rumored for weeks has been confirmed as reality, as Creek will suit up for the defending national prep school champions at Hargrave Military Academy.  Creek is a silky smooth scorer with a lethal shot from behind the three-point line and a rapidly developing mid-range game.

But don’t feel too bad for South Kent as new head coach Kelvin Jefferson appears well on his way to building the type of loaded team that the Cardinals are used to.  Syracuse bound rising junior Dion Waiters is apparently set to return.  According to reports he will be joined by two New York products in Omari Lawrence and Kevin Parrom

Lawrence is a high major prospect at the swing position who has a list that includes St. John’s, Connecticut, Louisville, Miami, Virginia, and Marquette.  Parrom is a 6’5” forward who is also getting recruited at the highest levels with offers already in hand from schools including Pittsburgh, Providence, Rutgers, St. John’s, South Carolina, and West Virginia.
