Mattos Accepts Offer
Kearsarge High School's Tayler Mattos has been a man among boys in the NHIAA in recent years and yet he won't even celebrate his 18th birthday until August and so the plan was for him to do a post-graduate year following his graduation next month.
That plan has now changed though after Mattos took an official visit to Bowling Green this weekend and signed National Letter of Intent on Tuesday morning.
The 6-foot-10 big man averaged 26 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 blocks per game while winning NHIAA D3 Player of the Year honors and duplicated those numbers this year as a senior while winning NHIAA D2 Player of the Year honors.
It was on the grassroots circuit, with WrightWay Skills, that he made a name for himself and earned his multiple division I offers.
"As a coach I'm truly blessed to have worked with such a great young man," said WrightWay Skills head coach and director George Wright-Easy. "At 6-foot-10 and an agile 245 pounds, Tayler's listening skill is the best trait about him. Seeing his willingness to listen, I knew I could teach him the skills. I will always remember the first time meeting his warm parents in New Hampshire. Taylor gave it everything he had every time he stepped into the gym."
Ultimately, that hard work paid off as he went from a raw and unknown post player into a big man who is now just beginning to scratch the surface of his potential.
"Tayler will be stepping onto a college campus at the age of 17 and will have a solid academic and basketball career at Bowling Green State University, which is a great fit for him." Wright-Easy said. "We are excited to see Tayler tap into his vast potential at the next level with BGSU."
Below are some of Mattos' highlights with WrightWay Skills from last summer and fall.
