Master’s Big Man is Monmouth Bound
Master's School's 6-foot-11 big man Sam Ibiezugbe told the New England Recruiting Report on Friday that he had made a verbal commitment to Monmouth University.
The MAAC school in New Jersey made Ibiezugbe a priority throughout the summer and into the fall. They were the first division I school to offer him a scholarship and brought their entire coaching staff to the Master's School on the first day of the September recruiting period.
Ibiezugba has only been playing basketball for three years, but has the type of size and motor that can immediately change the complexity of the game inside the paint.
He isn't just tall, but also powerful in both his upper and lower body, with long arms even for his size. If that weren't enough, he plays with great intensity, runs the floor, is physical inside the lane and definitely capable of cleaning the glass and protecting the rim.
Ibiezugba ran with the New York Lightning on this year's EYBL circuit and made a big impression during the finals at the Peach Jam, when he played consistent minutes and held his own against the best big men in the country.
He joins Andrew Garcia (Stony Brook) to become the second Master's product to commit to a division I school so far this year.
Below are some of his highlights:
