Marra Returns from Louisville Visit

Mike Marra recently returned from a visit to the University of Louisville where he got a chance to meet Rick Pitino for the first time.  Although assistant coaches Walter McArty and Richard Pitino have been hot on Marra’s trail ever since he went off for 10 three-pointers in a single game at the Reebok Summer Classic East, this was his first opportunity to sit down and talk to the coaching legend one on one.

“Obviously he was impressed,” said NMH Head Coach John Carroll.  “Between the atmosphere down there, the quality of their practice and individual instruction, and Coach Pitino’s New England roots it was very appealing to Mike and his family.”

Carroll also says that a commitment could be in the cards in the near future for his star shooting guard.  But there are still plenty of other schools hoping to prolong the recruiting process as Marquette, Providence, Gonzaga, UMass, and URI are all actively involved.

To Marra’s credit he hasn’t let all of this attention distract him on the floor, as he has been on a tear of late.  Wednesday night he scored 30 points on Deerfield as he knocked down four three-pointers and 9 of 11 free-throws.  Three days earlier he led NMH to an easy win over Vanier as he poured in 29 in relatively reduced minutes.
