Marfo Collecting Offers

New England Recruiting Report | Wednesday, May 6th, 2015

Worcester Academy and BABC big man Kevin Marfo has been collecting scholarship offers since the April evaluation period came to an end.

Marfo was only ten days returned from a torn meniscus when BABC made their EYBL debut last month in Virginia. Nevertheless, he still made important contributions inside the paint during session I and ended up landing offers from the likes of Boston University and Towson in the process.

Two weeks later, Marfo was starting to get his legs back and made even more significant contributions.

Now, at the mid-way point of the EYBL season, he's solidified himself as one of the best rebounders in the league, ranking 9th overall with 7.9 rebounds/game, 3rd in total defensive rebounds and ranking 1st in the entire EYBL in defensive rebounding percentage (according to Group Stats) - an advanced metric that measures the percentage of available rebounds that a player secures.

Aside from his prowess on the backboard, Marfo is also providing a consistent interior scoring presence with his 11.2 points per game to go with 69% from the free-throw line.

In the ten days since session II came to an end, Marfo's recruitment has gone to an entirely different level.

Tennesse Chattanooga came calling on Monday the 27th while Tuesday's list of scholarship offers included Northeastern, Lehigh, Hofstra and two from the Atlantic 10 in St. Joseph's and LaSalle. A day later it was Wofford and George Washington before DePaul became the first Big East school to extend an offer.

Tulsa became the first school from the American Athletic Conference to offer a few days later while he got his biggest offer yet on Monday night when Xavier head coach Chris Mack called to extend the invitation.

While college coaches won't be out again until July, Marfo and his BABC squad are back on the road this weekend and headed to Houston for the third session of the EYBL.
