Magic Trio Ends July Week Early

Chris Lee, Harry Rafferty, and Duncan Robinson all saw their AAU seasons come to an end last week as the Middlesex Magic were eliminated in the gold bracket after winning their pool at the AAU Super Showcase in Orlando.

While the Magic have continued on into AAU nationals, the local trio was left to cheer their teammates on from the sidelines due to recent AAU rule changes that prohibited rising post-graduates from participating in the 11th grade nationals.

Lee, who will prep at Bridgton Academy, was "absolutely outstanding throughout the tournament" according to Magic head coach Michael Crotty Jr.  The Lexington graduate averaged 12.5 points and 12 rebounds per game while physically overwhelming opponents on both ends of the floor with his unique combination of size, power and athleticism.  His recruitmet is now picking up accordingly as many coaches from the scholarship level are beginning to take notice of his tools and development.

Robinson and Rafferty, who will team up again next year at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, also played well last week.  Robinson averaged 13.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while continuing to shoot the ball well from the perimeter.  Meanwhile Rafferty was one of the team's top scorers on the week, averaging 16.2 points while knocking down five three-pointers in their final pool play game of the weekend.
