Locals Shine at NBA Top 100 Camp
The NBA Players Association's annual Top 100 High School Basketball Camp tipped on Wednesday at the University of Virginia and after only a few early game sets, already both Makai Ashton-Langford and Tremont Waters were making news.
Ashton-Langford was recognized by Scout.com's Brian Snow, who profiled the Cushing Academy and Mass Rivals star here, while Waters had Twitter buzzing with rave reviews of his performance on Wednesday night, including both ESPN's Paul Biancardi and Reggie Rankin, who recognized the Expressions Elite guard.
Other local products selected to be in attendance this week include Commonwealth Academy and PSA Cardinals forward Hasahn French and CBC and Cheshire Academy rising sophomore Chol Marial.
The "NBA Camp" - as it is known to most in the grassroots world - is generally regarded as one of the most prestigious camps in the country, largely because it selects players regardless of sneaker affiliation.
While there are multiple game sets per day, the program also includes classroom sessions and other activities emphasizing character, education and skill development as the core principles necessary to maximize a player's development.
The NBA Camp will run through the day on Saturday.
