Lee Academy Big Man Makes Pick

Lee Academy power forward Chen Cai made a verbal commitment to Loyola of Maryland and head coach Jimmy Pastos on Thursday.

Cai arrived in Lee this fall after a succesful high school career in San Diego after coming to the United States from his native country of China.

Cai averaged 26 points and 17 rebounds as a junior at Maranatha High School only a year after putting up 23 points and 13 rebounds in his first season stateside.

As a senior at Lee, Cai has emerged as one of the top frontcourt options for head coach Andrew Papaefthemiou and seen a good deal of recruitment from across the country as a result.

Cai is a native of the Chinese port city of Guangzhou. He is the latest in a rapidly growing line of Chinese products to star at Lee, following in the footsteps of the likes of Jason Sun, Steven Sun, and Justin Zhao.
