Lawrence’s Washington Headed Back West
Lawrence Academy senior big man Travell Washington made a commitment to new Pepperdine head coach Lorenzo Romar last week.
The longtime University of Washington head coach, who spent this past season as the associate head coach at the University of Arizona, made Washington one of his first priorities upon taking the new job.
Washington announced his commitiment on twitter shortly after visiting Pepperdine's campus.

Washington is a California native who has flown a little under the radar in recent years as he's played his prep basketball in New England but the majority of his grassroots basketball on the west coast. Most recently, he starred for Inlank Koolaid over the summer when he picked up an offer from San Diego State. Things have been relatively quiet since though despite the fact that Washington is loaded with natural talent
The 6-foot-9 big man has an undeniably high upside with a rare combination of size, mobility, athleticism, and face-up skill. He covers the court and moves extremely well for a player his size, gets off his feet with easy bounce, and has range out to the three-point line. The key is putting it all together on a consistent basis and not becoming too glued to the perimeter. Washington made nice strides in that process this year as a senior but still has lots more potential left to discover with his best days definitely still ahead of him.
