Recruiting Round-Up
It has been a busy seven days on the recruiting wire, and that's to be expected in the week that follows the final weekend of the April evaluation period. Here's a look back at some of the recent updates:
- After landing offers from Duke and Kentucky following the first session of EYBL with Expressions Elite, South Kent point guard Tremont Waters added another offer from Kansas last Thursday;
- Northfield Mount Hermon and Albany City Rocks sniper Andrew Platek added an offer from Princeton earlier in the week and then saw his recruitment go to a brand new level with an offer from North Carolian on Wednesday while Stanford came next the following Monday;
- Fellow NMH'ers Tomas Murphy and Jerome Desrosiers added new offers last week as well. The New England Playaz forwards were both offered by Hofstra while Desrosiers added other offers from Brown, Vermont and Princeton while Murphy was also offered by St. Bonaventure;
- Winchendon School and Mass Rivals forward Makhtar Gueye added high-major offers with almost every passing day last week as Rutgers, Marquette, Creighton, DePaul, VCU, UConn and Florida all came calling after his performance in Atlanta;
- Proctor Academy guard Geo Baker was another player who saw his recruitment go to a new level when he landed his first high-major offers from Kansas State and Rutgers, along with additional offers from Drexel and Penn, following D.C. Blue Devils runs to the semi-finals at the Pittsburgh Jam Fest;
- Another Proctor Academy and D.C. Blue Devils product, Tshiefu Ngalakulondi, added offers from Hofstra, Eastern Kentucky, St. Bonaventure, LaSalle and Duquesne as he became an increasing priority in the Atlantic 10;
- Rivers School and Expressions Elite's Jermaine Samuels had a busy week as he reportedly picked up new offers from Marquette, Pittsburgh and Xavier following his performance in Indianapolis;
- St. Luke's Walter Whyte has picked up more offers than anyone in New England in the last two weeks with Lehigh, Bowling Green and Richmond becoming the latest to offer the PSA Cardinals wing.
- At the New Hampton School, Anthony Gaines continued to add handfuls of new offers with Dayton, Hofstra, Toledo, Monmouth and Kennesaw State becoming the most recent schools to extend invitations;
- Also at New Hampton School, Kristers Zoriks, who runs the show for the City Rocks this spring started the week with an offer from Vermont before Wake Forest became the first ACC school to offer;
- Another New Hampton School and City Rocks product, Walker Miller, added his most recent scholarship offer from the University of Vermont on Monday night;
- Kimani Lawrence, another member of New Hampton School's '17 class, picked up an offer from the new staff at Pittsburgh following his performance at the second session of EYBL and then an offer from Texas on Friday;
- Cushing Academy and Mass Rivals point guard Wabissa Bede added his latest Big East offer when DePaul came calling after the second weekend of the Gauntlet series in Atlanta;
- Vermont Academy and BABC big man Marcus Santos Silva, who added offers from DePaul and Boston College after sessions I of the EYBL, picked up Boston University, Vermont and Towson following session II of the circuit;
- Commonwealth Academy and PSA Cardinals power forward Hasahn French also continued to add new suitors as New Mexico and Arizona State both came calling after his week in Indianapolis;
- Aaron Wheeler's latest offer came care of the Atlantic 10's defending champions, St. Joseph's, who offered the St. Andrew's and Mass Rivals forward following his trip to Atlanta;
- Holderness big man Sukhmail Mathon added his first offer at the Atlantic 10 level when LaSalle came calling following his first weekend with the D.C. Blue Devils;
- Connecticut Basketball Club and Newington guard Jared Simmons picked up his first division I offer from Rider after leading CBC to a 3-1 record in the second weekend of the UAA circuit;
- Putnam Science Academy and New York Jayhawks point guard Jaheam Cornwall added an offer from Maine after leading the Jayhawks to the championship of the Adidas Gauntlet silver bracket in Atlanta;
- Middlesex Magic and Millbrook guard Brendan Hoban picked up his first two scholarship offers last week from LIU Post and Daemen after helping to Magic to the finals of the Pitt Jam Fest;
- Belmont Hill swingman Jovan Jones added an offer from American after helping the Rivals's 16's advance to the quarterfinals of the Gauntlet Atlanta bracket;
- Beaver Country Day and BABC 2018 point guard Shandon Brown picked up an offer from UMass while on an unofficial vist to their campus on Thursday;
- Milton Academy and Middlesex Magic 2018 guard Cormac Ryan added an offer from Davidson while also hearing from Michigan, Stanford and Notre Dame last week;
- Putnam Science Academy guard Eric Ayala, who stars next to Trevon Duval with We-R1 in the UAA, added an offer from USC on Monday night.
