Kylan Guerra 2016

The Kent School saw a third member of their 2016 class earn a full athletic scholarship earlier this week when post-graduate guard Kylan Guerra committed to Philadelphia University.

“Philly U” is a division II school which competes in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. They are led by Herb Magee, the Hall of Fame coach who has been at the helm of the program for the last 49 years and has over 1,000 career wins to his record.

Magee is known to many as “The Shot Doctor” and so it’s no surprise that he pursued Guerra, who was one of the best shooters in the New England prep ranks this year.

Prior to arriving at Kent Guerra starred at Archbishop Stepinac High School in New York where he was the leading scorer in the New York Catholic School league (CHSAA).

He played his AAU basketball with the New Heights program and has added a number of division II offers, along with increasing attention from division I schools, during his post-graduate year.

“He had a great visit to Philly U and just felt their combination of strong academics and basketball history was right for him,” Kent head coach Jason Coulombe told the New England Recruiting Report.

A tremendously skilled combo-guard, Guerra is a smooth and skilled guard who can shoot the ball at a high level both off the catch or the dribble.
He joins Billerica High School’s Josh Bradanese to become the second New England product to commit to Philadelphia in the class of 2016.
