Johnson Gets First Recruit at Fairfield
First year head coach Sydney Johnson landed the first commitment of his tenure at Fairfield and it was a good one as Marcus Gilbert, from Academy of New Church in Pennsylvania pledged on Wednesday.
Gilbert is the younger brother of incoming Pittsburgh freshman Malcolm Gilbert, and while the brothers share similar high level talent, they have very different games.
Malcolm is a seven-foot defensive monster, while Marcus is an explosive six-foot-six athlete with a consistent three-point shot and the versatility to play three different positions. What's best about the younger Gilbert brother is he has the potential to continue to improve as he fills in the gaps between his shot-making ability and explosiveness.
Gilbert, a Delaware native, played with East Coast Elite on the grassroots circuit under former Hillhouse and St. Joseph's guard Terrell Myers.
