Jennings Earns Scholarship
St. Joseph’s senior guard James Jennings wrapped up his recruitment on Monday when he signed a National Letter of Intent with local division II school Southern Connecticut State University.
Jennings had a storied high school career at St. Joseph’s, helping to lead the Cadets to back to back state championships in his junior and senior seasons.
His contributions proved especially critical down the stretch of this season’s championship run as he led St. Joseph’s in scoring in each of their last three games. The streak began with 21 points in a quarterfinal victory over Ridgefield and peaked with a 30 point performance in a 69-59 win over New London in the semifinals. He scored 26 more points on Hillhouse in the CIAC class LL championship game at Mohegan Sun.
His production earned him a variety of post-season awards and accolades including First Team All-State in Class LL of the CIAC as well as MSG Varsity Player of the Year in the state of Connecticut.
Jennings has had similar success on the AAU circuit over the year, coming up the ranks with the Connecticut Elite program and continuing to star for them even into this spring’s season.
Now, Jennings will punctuate an already strong Southern Connecticut Class that includes Northfield Mount Hermon center Lucas Van Nes, Kent forward Stefon Williams, and Lyman Hall big man Jack McCarthy.
