Jackson West Coast Bound
South Kent center Tyler Jackson became the third New England product to commit to a division I school on what was a very busy Wednesday in the region.
The seven-footer is originally from Illinois but first arrived in New England last year as a junior when he suited up for Vermont Academy. He transferred to South Kent for his senior season and played the best basketball of his career down the stretch of the season, putting up some huge numbers to stabilize a Cardinal team that battled numerous injuries in the second half of the year.
At seven-foot-two, Jackson obviously has tremendous size that can immediately change a game, but he's also done a great job improving his conditioning within the last year and becoming both a more consistent interior scorer and rebounder.
Jackson joins Aaron Carver (Old Dominion) to become the second South Kent product in the '15 class to accept a full division I scholarship but he likely won't be the last as fellow big man, Jovan Grujic, takes an official visit to Stephen F. Austin this weekend.
