Improving by Leips and Bounds

Good things come in small packages and Justin Leip is walking proof.

Leip, an 8th grader at the Rivers School in Massachusetts, is rading a very steady wave of momentum after a solid spring and summer on the AAU and camp circuits.

A product of the Shooting Stars AAU program, Leip was instrumental in leading the team to the silver medal in both the Massachusetts division I state tournament as well as the Super Regionals.

He followed up a succesful spring with an equally succesful summer, beginning in the Central Mass Junior Varisty Basketball League, where he led his team in assists despite being just an eight grader.  Leip was even better in the play-offs, going for 17 points and 6 assists in the quarter-finals and then following that up with 15 points and 5 assists in the semis.  Ultimately, the 8th grade squad would fall to St. John's of Shrewsbury, a team composed mostly of sophomores and juniors.

Leip's summer also included a trip to the Bob Hurley Basketball Camp at the Poconons where he walked away with All-Star honors.

He also had a great showing at the Boston Best 40 in August, showing off his trademark shooting stroke while again making the all-star game along with the best 8th and 9th graders in the area.
