Hoop Mountain Prep Classic - Thursday Recap

The action for the Hoop Mountain Prep Classic tipped off in Thompson, Connecticut on Thursday with teams representing seven different states and two countries in action.

CJEOTO Blue (NJ) 58  v  Mack Prep Academy (NC) 65

Quevyn Winters  (Mack) dominated the glass early and often collecting 13 rebounds and adding  an effortless 21 points for the game. Jamar Goodwin (Mack) scored 16 points mostly in transition.  Justin Daniels (CJEOTO Blue) scored 14 points predominately attacking the rim. Daniels also demonstrated an efficient pull-up jumper.

Redemption Christian (NY) 78  v Alif Muhamed  NIA School (NJ) 66

This game was a lot closer then the score would indicate as Redemption Christian pulled the game out in double overtime. Camar Parks (Redemptoin Christian) was a wizard with the basketball in transition in this up and down game. Parks had 9 assists , and 4 steals, to go along with his  11 points.  His backcourt mate, Yosimar Bernadez made all the big plays down the stretch hitting key free throws and scoring 22 points. Sterling Smith (Redemption) was a monster in the paint with 24 points and 9 boards.

Cushing Academy (MA) 68  v Lee Academy (ME) 61

Cushing jumped out to an early 15 point lead, but Lee Academy willed their way back behind Gunnar Bjornson’s 15 first half points.  He finished with 24 points. Andrew Chrabascz dominated both sides of the ball with 17 points and 12 rebounds while Tyler McFarland also finished with a double-double (10 points & 10 rebounds).  Treaven Duffy, son of  NBA  super agent Bill, showed glimpses of brilliance in the Cushing win including two key free throws down the stretch.

NIA Prep National (NJ) 95  v Notre Dame Prep (MA) 106

Notre Dame proved why they might have one of the best guard trios in the country.  Xavier signee Myles Davis went off, yet again, from behind the three-point line, totaling seven long balls on his way to 32 points.  Sam Cassell Jr. and Clemson signee Adonis Filer both finished with 22 points, while Cassell added 7 assists and Filer 4 steals.

Putnam Science (CT) 71  v Montmorency (Canada) 43

Putnam Science’s backcourt of Dayshon Smith and Shaun Lawton proved to be too much for Montmorency.  Smith attacked the rim from the point to the tune of 15 points, while Lawton did a little bit of everything with 13 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals.  Equally impressive was the frontline of Keon Scott and Oscar Assie as Scott finished with 15 points and 7 boards while Assie was a monster on the glass, collecting a double-double of 11 points and 14 boards, leading the team to a runaway win to the delight of the PSA faithful in attendance.
