Hoop Mountain Prep Classic Headlines Busy Weekend

College coaches are expected to be making the trip to Thompson, Connecticut in bunches this weekend for the third annual Hoop Mountain Prep Classic as over 40 division I prospects will be in action.  The action tips off on Friday night as perennial New England powerhouse Notre Dame Prep squares off against IMG Academy at 6:30pm.  At 8:30 Providence Country Day will face Putnam Science Academy. 

Saturday’s action begins at 3pm with a match-up of two of class B favorites – Marianapolis Prep and Proctor Academy.  At 4:30 St. Andrew’s will be in action as they face off against Brimmer & May.  Putnam Science Academy will return to the floor at 6 when they face Noble & Greenough.  At 7:30 IMG will square off against Satellite Academy while the day’s nightcap will feature a much improved Suffield Academy squad against Marianapolis. 

Play will begin at noon on Sunday as Nobles will again take the court, this time against Choate Rosemary Hall.  At 1:30 Satellite and Apex will meet and at 3 IMG will face defending class D champions, the Hyde School.  At 4:30 Brimmer & May will face Apex while St. Andrew’s will return to play Trinity Pawling at 6.

Hoops For Foods

A series of short scrimmages featuring many of the top high school programs in Connecticut will be played this Saturday at Windsor High School with proceeds going to benefit charity.

St. Mark’s vs. Tilton

Class B Champs vs. Class C Champs, Alex Oriakhi vs. Erik Murphy, Nate Lubick vs. Jamal Coombs.  Call it what you want but this will be a classic battle when St. Mark’s visits Tilton on Saturday at 4pm.  No less than 6 high-major prospects will be on the floor with as many as 10 division I players in action.  Stay tuned to the New England Recruiting Report early next week for details on the action.
