Hinton Headed South to Play D1
A busy day of commitments saw one more piece of good news come across the wire late Wednesday night when Governor's Academy and BABC swingman Jalyn Hinton made a verbal commitment to Jacksonville University.
Jacksonville is a Division I university in Florida which competes in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Hinton had a breakout spring and summer playing with BABC on the EYBL circuit, serving as a key cog in their rotation as they extended their national leading streak of consecutive Peach Jam appearances.
A super long and athletic lefty on the wing, Hinton was a playmaker on both ends of the floor as he thrived in BABC's trademark full-court pressure and was a constant threat to throw down some explosive finishes in the open floor. Moving forward, he still has quite a bit of potential left to discover as his frame fills out and he extends his shooting range away from the basket.
In other words, Hinton proved he could impact the highest levels of competition this summer and yet is still a long ways away from being a finished product.
Hinton is BABC's fourth D1 commit thus far in the class of 2017 as he joins Terrell Brown (Pittsburgh), Marcos Santos-Silva (VCU), Ryan Layman (Bryant). BABC alum Tyree Robinson, a 2015 graduate who now attends Odessa Junior college, will also sign a D1 National Letter of Intent next month with New Mexico State.
Below are some of Hinton's highlights from his junior season at Governor's.
