High School Season Wrap-Up: MPA
The second in a six part series looking back on the high school seasons in all six state associations, today we examine the MPA in the state of Maine.
Portland High School won the state's top prize, the AA championship, knocking off South Portland 60-38 to finish the season at 19-2 earlier this month.
The championship was Portland's second in a row and third in the last four years. Terion Moss, who was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state earlier this week, led the way with 22 points on 6-8 shooting from the field and 8-8 shooting from the free-throw line while also contributing 9 rebounds.

In Class A, Greely knocked off Messalonskee to capture the gold ball and finalize a perfect season at 22-0. Matt McDevitt scored 23 points, including the 1000th of his career, while also grabbing 8 rebounds and blocking 3 shots. Fellow seniors Jordan Bagshaw and Ryan Twitchell chipped in with 17 points and 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively.

Mount Desert Island captured the Class B state championship by defeating Wells on March 3rd in Augusta 59-39. Graham Good had 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 steals while Andrew Phelps scored a team high 16 points.

In Class C, George Stevens survived Winthrop 47-44 after Jarrod Chase knocked down the game winning three-pointer with just 1.5 seconds left on the clock. Star junior Taylor Schildroth came up with a huge steal with 18.9 seconds left to play and then made the pass to set-up Chase's game winner. They finished the season with a perfect 22-0 record.

Machias won the Class D state championship by knocking off Greenville 51-39 following a 43-31 semi-final win over Southern Aroostook.

Following the season Greely forward Matt McDevitt received the state's highest senior honor in the prestigious Maine Mr. Basketball award. Other finalists included Mason Cooper, Lawrence; Jacob Hickey, Winthrop; Jack Casale, Cheverus; Colin Coyne, Falmouth; Jordan Bagshaw, Greely; Cameron Allaire, Medomak Valley; Riley Swanson, MDI; Nate Desisto, Orono; and Justin Thompson, Schneck.
