HGSL Announces Awards
The Hoop Group's HGSL announced their awards for the recent season last week and there were a lot of familiar names on the list.
Team Spartans Elite big man Donovan Clingan, who committed to UConn in June, was named the league's MVP.
Rhode Island Elite point guard Sebastian Thomas, who is expected to enroll at the University of Rhode Island this month, was named the 2021 MVP.
His Rhode Island Elite teammate, Isaiah Miranda, was named the 2023 MVP. Miranda will return to New England this year and enroll at Springfield Commonwealth Academy.
Six more players were selected to the HGSL First Team including NY Lightning Select and NMH big man Peter Carey and NJ Panthers guard Ethan Simmon.
The HSGL Second Team included Northwest Catholic and Team Spartans' Matt Curtis, Bradford Christian and RI Elite's Sam Kodi, Canterbury and Crown's Jaden Kealey, and Canterbury and NJ Panthers' Aidan Kehoe.
The All-Defensive First Team included Tony Felder from Team Spartans and Isaiah Earl from Rhode Island Elite. Spartans' Timmy OToole was also named to the All-Hustle team.
NY Lightning Select and House We Built forward Ramondo Battle, who committed to Air Force in the spring, was name to the All-2021 Team.
