Harvard Scores Big
Harvard head coach Tommy Amaker scored his latest recruiting victory on Monday, landing a verbal commitment from Kenyatta Smith, a highly coveted six-foot-eight center from Flintridge High School in California.
Smith saw his recruitment jump to the high-major level this summer when schools like Vanderbilt and Northwestern jumped into his recruitment, but following an official visit to Harvard's Cambridge campus this weekend, the talented big man decided he didn't need to see anymore.
The California native made his New England debut two years ago at the Hoop Mountain Academic All-American Camp and returned to New England this summer for a number of local events including the Super 16 Showcase where he helped his BTI Pump n'Run team to a tough victory over New Jersey ABC.
Smith joins forward Jonah Travis in Harvard's 2011 recruiting class.
