Hanna to Prep at Vermont Academy

New England Recruiting Report | Wednesday, April 6th, 2016

This is the time of year when almost one out of every two unsigned seniors in New England claims they're headed to prep school.

Inevitably, that percentage will end up being much smaller, thus explaining why the NERR policy on prep school commitments has always been to wait until it's been confirmed by both the player and the coach and the contract has been signed.

One of the first notable seniors to do that is Catholic Memorial guard Matt Hanna who will head to Vermont Academy for his post-graduate year following his graduation.

Hanna had a decorated high school career, helping to lead CM to the 2015 MIAA state championship and the 206 South Sectional championship. He's also been racking up the hardware in recent weeks after being named to the Boston Herald Dream Team, ESPN Boston All State First Team, Catholic Conference MVP and Boston Globe Player of the Year.

He averaged almost 20 points and over six assists per game while also establishing a reputation as one of the state's best perimeter defenders and simultaneously leading CM to an overall record of 22-3.

Hanna will return to the Middlesex Magic this spring and summer before joining the reigning NEPSAC Class AA champions in the fall.
