Griffiths Going to be a Scarlet Knight
2023 Kingswood Oxford School & Expressions Elite small forward Gavin Griffiths announced his commitment today to Rutgers.
Griffiths has had an impressive career at Kingswood Oxford. This past season he averaged 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists, leading the Wyverns to 15 wins and spot in the NEPSAC Class B Tournament. From Griffiths’ standout season, he was named NEPSAC Class B Co Player of the Year.
Griffiths also stood out on the Nike EYBL circuit with Expressions. He burst onto the national scene with his play last spring/summer.
An injury unfortunately did not allow him to compete in this year's April live periods, but he was able to make his return this past weekend at the Louisville EYBL session.
Griffiths played an integral role helping Expressions to a 4-1 record. His team finished the spring EYBL sessions with a 10-3 record, earning the current top seed in Division D.
“Gavin’s rise in the national rankings and his success on the court are a direct result of his work ethic to his craft,” said Kingswood Oxford head coach Brad Seaman. “Each year he has returned a stronger, more athletic, and skilled player. His leadership has grown and his willingness to sacrifice other outside distractions for work and team success has become contagious to the team’s culture.”
“We all agree that Gavin’s biggest asset is his desire to continuously work meticulously on all aspects of his game. His desire to be more than just a shooter and prove to others he can add different variables to his game will aid him in succeeding in college.”
“Gavin has become a tenacious rebounder, a go-to post player, a great outlet passer, off-ball defender, and puts the ball on the floor to create for himself and teammates. Those are all things that came with work. It’s exciting to see the next element he will add over the summer.”
Griffiths becomes the first member of Kingswood Oxford’s and Expressions Elite’s 2023 class to finalize their college plans.
