Gedas to Dartmouth

Marianapolis Prep's post-graduate swingman Gedas Bertasius is heading to Dartmouth College next year to play for newly appointed head coach Paul Cormier.

Bertasius came to Marianapolis by way of his native Lithuania where he starred for the country's twenty-and-under national team.

A six-foot-five swingman who made a huge impact for Marianapolis this year, Bertasius was named First Team All NEPSAC after leading Marianapolis back to the Class B finals.

In addition to his prowess on the basketball court, Bertasius is also a 4.0 student who had a perfect score of 800 on the math portion of the SAT.

"I think Gedas and Dartmouth are a perfect fit and Gedas and [Coach] Cormier are a perfect fit," said Marianapolis head coach Dave Vitale.  "Gedas loves to be in the gym and so does [Coach] Cormier.  I think he'll be phenominal on the court, in the classroom, as well as in the community."

Bertasius took his official visit to Dartmouth last weekend and hand delivered his official paperwork after having been previously accepted to the school according to Vitale.

A streaky good three-point shooter who can score in bunches from behind the arc, Bertasius brings great energy onto the court and consequently ends up producing both inside and out.

He is the first player to commit to Cormier since being named the head coach at Dartmouth for the second time.
