Gabriel, Brown added to Jordan Brand Classic
Wilbraham and Monson Academy forward Wenyen Gabriel and Vermont Academy guard Bruce Brown were both recently named to the Jordan Brand Classic All-American team and will now take part in the Jordan Brand Classic on Friday, April 15th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
St. Thomas More big man Omari Spellman had already been named to the All-American roster earlier in the year.
Gabriel and Spellman will both suit up for the west team which also includes McDonald's MVP Frank Jackson (Duke), Miles Bridges (Michigan State) and Malik Monk (Kentucky) among others while Brown will star alongside the likes of Jayson Tatum (Duke), De'Aaron Fox (Kentucky) and Bam Adebayo (Kentucky) on the east team.
"It's just an honor," Gabriel told Mass Live. "It shows my hard work really paid off. It's just another chance to prove myself. I still feel like I need to prove a lot. It's a good chance to get better. But to be honored by Jordan is great. It's not an opportunity a lot of people get."
"It's an honor to get to play in the Jordan Brand Classic," Brown told Mass Live. "I'm looking forward to competing."
Gabriel played his travel basketball for the Mass Rivals and has signed with Kentucky while Brown played with BABC and has signed with Miami.
The Jordan Brand Classic will be the tip-off for what should be a major weekend of basketball in the greater New York City area as it will be followed by the first session of Nike's 2016 Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) while the first session of the Under Armour Association (UAA) at Basketball City.
